Position is days and on-call; weekend on-call. Flex shift 0.6-0.8.
Provides peri-anesthesia nursing care to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures in the Same Day Surgery, PACU and Radiology departments. Strong critical care skills, experience with conscious sedation and the ability to act quickly in an emergency are some of the attributes needed for this position. RN demonstrates competency with IV insertion and maintenance. RN provides patient and family education ensuring understanding. RN provides emotional support to patients and families during these high anxiety events in their lives. The RN works collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons and radiologists. The RN is expected to be able to function independently with tasks such as feeding tube, foley catheter, and transport of critical patients. Current knowledge of medications, including anesthetic agents is a must. The RN must maintain a professional composure in a fast paced, detail oriented environment presenting a calm demeanor to the patient and family at all times.
Current Minnesota RN licensure. Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification, 1-3 years SDS/PACU experience. Critical Care Course or previous pertinent critical care experience. If no applicants meet the position qualifications, consideration will be given to those who have: Current Minnesota RN licensure. Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification or obtain within 3 months of hire, minimum of one-year acute care experience. Preference given to nurse with previous SDS/PACU experience within the last 5 years.
